{"id":4316,"date":"2021-09-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-29T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fprs.applyflow.site\/celebrating-indigenous-business-month\/"},"modified":"2022-03-28T11:51:54","modified_gmt":"2022-03-28T00:51:54","slug":"celebrating-indigenous-business-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fprs.com.au\/celebrating-indigenous-business-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating Indigenous Business Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/\/www.fprs.com.au\/media\/fprs\/client\/FPRS Blog What is Indigenous Business Month_FBLI_Featured.png\" style=\"width: 100%\"><\/p>\n<div>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.indigenousbusinessmonth.com.au\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indigenous Business Month<\/a> runs from 1 October to 31 October each year, and is an important annual event that aims to promote national Indigenous businesses and give them a voice, while highlighting the diversity of the Indigenous market.<\/div>\n<div>\n\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indigenousbusinessmonth.com.au\/2021-indigenous-business-month-theme-calls-on-all-to-showcase-powering-the-indigenous-economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2021 theme<\/a> is \u201cPowering the Indigenous Economy,\u201d and is a call for the Indigenous business sector and its allies to showcase the economic contributions of Indigenous businesses, individuals and organisations.<\/div>\n<div>\n\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n\tContinue reading to learn more about the event and how you can get involved.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h2>\n\tThe Purpose of Indigenous Business Month<\/h2>\n<div>\n\tIndigenous Business Month is an initiative driven by the alumni of Melbourne Business School\u2019s MURRA Indigenous Business Master Class program, and was created to gather the best in Indigenous business owners, entrepreneurs and managers to develop new opportunities for Indigenous people.<\/div>\n<div>\n\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n\tThe event uplifts business as a way of providing positive role models for young Indigenous Australians and improving the quality of life in Indigenous communities. As program director Dr Michelle Evans explains, \u201cWe want kids to see that their future lies not just in arts and sport. Business also requires creativity and provides a path to community growth and individual aspirations.\u201d<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h2>\n\tThe 2021 Event<\/h2>\n<div>\n\tThis year\u2019s theme is a valuable reminder of the important contributions that Indigenous businesses make to the Australian economy \u2013 the power of which has become all the more important in the wake of the economic shifts that have taken place in the last couple of years.<\/div>\n<div>\n\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n\tThe Indigenous Business Month Awards for 2021 will showcase the outstanding achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and provides identifiable national and local role models to inspire all Australians. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indigenousbusinessmonth.com.au\/indigenous-business-month-awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">121, Indigenous Digital Inventiveness and Indigenous Ingenuity Awards<\/a> will be held virtually on Thursday 28 October 2021.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h2>\n\tWays Get Involved<\/h2>\n<div>\n\tIf you\u2019d like to get involved with Indigenous Business Month, consider raising awareness through your business or the local community, or participating in the various virtual or in-person <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indigenousbusinessmonth.com.au\/national-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">events<\/a> happening throughout October.<\/div>\n<div>\n\t&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n\tThis is also a chance for all Australians to find new ways to support Indigenous businesses through investment as part of supply chains and as consumers.
